Lately on Saturday nights, when I progress forward to Eden's lifetime in mid-21st century Europe (as I usually do) I get the feeling of warm sunshine on my back. If I hang onto that, and look around, what I see is the apartment I"m living in now, forty years in the future. It has been abandonned, this whole complex has been abandonned. And all the roofs have fallen in, and the walls are all half-crumbled, having been taken over by moss and vines. Sounds depressing, but actually is a beautiful sight. And I feel that I"m all alone in this place, once civilized and inhabited but now in the 2050's being slowly reclaimed by mother nature. The feeling of sunshine on my back is so strong when this happens. It really is beautiful.
Tonight, however, I've progressed myself to Ymunio's lifetime in the 25th century. What I see is similar, sunshine through hazy clouds. But no walls, no ruins even. Just a grass field. And a hill in the distance. There are parallel lines carved throughout as if mowed by an enormous machine. But otherwise no clue that any human has ever been here or build anything here. Certainly no sign that there was ever an apartment complex in this spot. After four hundred years it's understandable how this would come to be. But still it's so remarkable, how smooth and carved is the landscape here. No trees, even. Maybe in the distance. But otherwise, just grass and weeds, with a raised spot to the south which 400 years ago may have been something called "sunset highway." Beautiful.
